Have a hankering for something sweet but don’t want to blow your nutrition goals? Here is Mark and my FAVORITE homemade protein bar recipe compliments of the Eat Clean Diet Cookbook. Be careful…these guys are pretty calorie dense so you keep it to one bar for a snack and two for a meal!
Eat Clean Diet Oat/Yogurt Protein Bars
2 c. whole oats
1 c. unflavored or vanilla protein powder
1/2 c. Oat Bran
1/2 c. spelt (Or other healthy whole flour)
1/2 c. Ground flax seeds
1/2 c. Wheat Germ
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1/2 c. Sucanat (or other natural sugar)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. organic dark chocolate chips
In another bowl mix together:
1.5 to 2 cups plain non-fat yogurt
1/4 c. healthy oil (I use Grapeseed)
2 tsp. Olive Oil
1 tsp. pure vanilla
Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until everything is coated. Bake in a GREASED 9×13 pan at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes or until the edges start to brown and pull away from the pan.Let cool and cut into 24 squares
They are a great clean alternative when the sugar cravings attack! I usually make at least one batch per week for me and the hubby! Be careful, they are pretty calorie dense.
